Featured VentureMom – Jamie Sydney, Chef

I was treated to an in- home cooking class with Jamie and a group of girlfriends. I learned a lot, the food was delicious and it was so much fun! Reach out to Jamie to host a class at your home.

For Jamie Sydney, the kitchen has always been more than a place to cook—it’s where creativity, connection, and opportunity come together.

A graduate of the French Culinary Institute, Jamie has spent her life immersed in the

food world. Her career spans everything from leading kitchens in New York as a Head Chef to appearing on television, running her own in-home cooking school, and working as a private chef to Tommy Hilfiger. But like so many VentureMoms, her most meaningful work didn’t come from a traditional job—it came from following what felt natural.

Jamie has always understood that food is about more than recipes. It’s about bringing people together.

After years working in high-pressure culinary environments, she began to shift her focus. She noticed that people weren’t just looking for beautifully prepared meals—they were craving experiences. They wanted to learn, to participate, and to connect in a more personal way.

So Jamie built a business around exactly that.

She began creating intimate, in-home cooking experiences where clients could gather with friends and family, learn techniques, and enjoy the process as much as the final meal. It’s a format that feels effortless but is rooted in years of expertise. Jamie guides, teaches, and orchestrates—making it all look easy while delivering something truly special.

What makes her approach unique is that it removes the pressure from entertaining. Instead of striving for perfection, her clients get to be part of the experience. They learn new skills, try new flavors, and share something interactive and memorable.

And that’s where the magic happens.

Her business grew the way many great businesses do—organically. One client turns into another. One gathering leads to the next. People talk, they share, and suddenly what started as an idea becomes a thriving venture.

Jamie didn’t set out to reinvent entertaining—but she did.

Today, she continues to work as a private chef and caterer while expanding the experiential side of her business. Whether she’s cooking for a family, teaching a group, or creating a custom event, her goal remains the same: make it meaningful, make it beautiful, and make it something people remember.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes the best businesses aren’t created from scratch—they’re uncovered by paying attention to what people truly want.

And in Jamie’s case, what they wanted was simple: great food, shared together.
