How Claudia Turned a Cleaning Business into Everneat
Sometimes the best business ideas are discovered while doing the work.
Before Claudia and her husband, Angelo, ever created Everneat, they cleaned homes across New York City. Armed with a cart full of “green” cleaning products, they believed they could offer clients a healthier alternative to traditional cleaners.
It didn’t take long to realize there was a problem.
The eco-friendly products were safe—but they didn’t always work. The conventional cleaners worked—but they left behind harsh fumes that aggravated Angelo’s asthma and irritated their hands.
Every day, they faced the same frustrating choice: Should a product be effective, or should it be safe?
They believed it should be both. “People really care about their homes, their families, their health – it’s all connected.”
Rather than accepting that compromise, Claudia and Angelo started experimenting. They tested every eco-friendly cleaner they could find, mixed their own formulas, and spent two years learning what worked—and what didn’t. As professional cleaners, they had a unique advantage: every home they cleaned became a real-world testing ground. “We want people to feel better in their homes.”
Finally, they partnered with chemists to develop products that delivered professional results without relying on harsh ingredients. In 2017, they launched Everneat.
Their first customer, Nancy, is still a client today—a reminder that building a great business starts with earning trust, one customer at a time.
What began as a line of cleaning products has grown into a complete lifestyle brand, expanding into personal care and wellness while staying true to its original mission: helping families care for their homes without compromising their health.
Today, Everneat products are manufactured in Fairfield, Connecticut, tested daily by the company’s own professional cleaning teams, and shipped to customers around the world.
Claudia’s story is a reminder that your business idea doesn’t have to come from a brainstorm—it can come from doing the work every day.
She didn’t set out to create a product company. She simply wanted a cleaner that was both safe and effective. When she couldn’t find one, she built it herself.
Sometimes the biggest opportunity isn’t inventing something entirely new. It’s refusing to accept that you have to choose between two imperfect options.
