Founded in 2012 by childhood friends September, Jocelyn, and Maddy. Inspired by summers spent on Nantucket, which lent its name to the brand, the founders set out to create a retail experience that blended classic style with a modern twist—something they felt was missing in the market.
“Department stores felt overwhelming, and the best boutiques were only found in special destinations, not online. So we built a retail space with inspiring content and a curated selection of both emerging brands and beloved classics,” the founders share.
Today, Tuckernuck offers a full lifestyle collection, spanning women’s, men’s, and kids’ fashion, accessories, and home décor. The brand is known for its thoughtfully edited selections and its own Tuckernuck and Tnuck Sport labels, which embody effortless elegance. Much of Tuckernuck’s aesthetic is rooted in travel and family traditions. Sisters, Maddy and Jocelyn, recall adventurous childhood summers exploring Europe, staying in BnBs, and making unforgettable memories. These experiences continue to shape their designs and curation, blending heritage inspiration with a playful, modern spirit.
Escaping Washington, DC’s summer heat for the cool breezes of Nantucket was another defining tradition. “There’s something about being on an island that makes us feel like kids again—bike rides, bonfires, and stepping off the ferry into pure nostalgia,” they say.
Over the years, the founders have refined their approach to dressing. Jocelyn, a former investment banker, recalls how her early style was a mix of structured suiting and trend-driven pieces. “I’ve learned that a timeless, flattering wardrobe foundation is key. But I always add an unexpected twist—I don’t like things to be too perfect.”
Tuckernuck’s success is built on knowing their customer and staying true to their DNA. Even during uncertain times in 2020-2021, the team adapted by staying in tune with what their community wanted—classic yet unique styles for real life.
